The upcoming Tattersalls February Sale on 30 – 31 January will feature the inaugural Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) Showcase as well as the popular Stallion Parade. The RoR Showcase will commence at 11am followed by the Tattersalls Stallion Parade before the start of the sale on Thursday 30 January.

The debut RoR Showcase will celebrate the versatility and adaptability of retired racehorses as they transition into successful second careers. The event will highlight the crucial work of RoR, British racing’s official charity dedicated to the welfare and retraining of retired racehorses, and will feature nine retrained racehorses who have excelled in a variety of equestrian disciplines, showcasing their talent, resilience, and the opportunities available beyond their racing careers.

The nine retrained racehorses to parade in the Sale Ring will be as follows:

• SWEET JEMIMA, ridden by Phoebe Locke
• BARBERS SHOP, ridden by Katie Jerram-Hunnable
• BARRACUDA BOY, ridden by Dannielle Carr
• BLAIR HOUSE, ridden by Sophy Stanfield
• CAINHOE STAR, ridden by Claudia Hammond
• GENTLEMAN AT ARMS, ridden by Harriet Edmunds
• KALASHNIKOV, ridden by Amy Murphy
• NATIVE RIVER, ridden by Jazmin Hosgood
• SKYSURFERS, ridden by Rachel Ovens
  

Tattersalls’ long-standing support of the Retraining of Racehorses charity also includes sponsorship of the Tattersalls RoR Showing Series, which enters its tenth year in 2025, and the RoR Sales Company Welfare Levy funding announced in 2024.

The RoR Showcase will be followed by the Tattersalls Stallion Parade at approximately 11.30am. The Stallion Parade will feature the following nine young British-based sires who will be available for viewing in Left Yard and Right Yard after the parade;

Key industry organisations including the British EBF (European Breeders’ Fund), the British Racing School, RoR, TB-Ed and the National Stud will also have exhibition displays in the Lower Sale Ring Bar with hospitality provided courtesy of British EBF until 1pm.

British EBF Chairman Simon Sweeting, himself bringing CATURRA to the Tattersalls Stallion Parade, said:

“The British EBF’s £2 million annual contribution to racing’s prize money is funded, in the main, by British stallions. When Tattersalls approached us about their plans for the parade, it made perfect sense for us to support and be associated with it. It is a great opportunity for breeders to see new horses such as The National Stud’s Bradsell and stallions from a bit further afield such as Ubettabelieveit, El Caballo and Bangkok.”
