RoR Launches online RoR Open In-Hand Showing Series
- Eight qualifiers and a Grand Final
- Free to enter
- The show must go on
As coronavirus puts the brakes on public events and equestrian competitions, RoR are delighted to launch a new Open In-Hand Showing series, online.
Many of you have been working hard all winter preparing for this season so until the lockdown is lifted, we wanted to reward all your preparations.
Entries for the first of the eight qualifiers open at 9am on Monday 27th April 2020. The format will remain the same for each subsequent qualifier, ie. entries open each Monday and close on the following Friday for a total of eight weeks. Entries close each Friday at midday or when twenty videos have been submitted. If your entry misses the deadline, it will automatically be entered for the following week. Email confirmation will be sent to all entrants.
RoR eligibility: Horses must be registered with RoR and handlers must be 15 years old on the 1st of January 2020 and is open to horses 3 years and over, fillies, mares and geldings. Open to GB raced horses, horses that have raced abroad or been in training. Racing injuries and blemishes are ignored. Horses do not need to be shod to compete in this series and horses can be shown in a bitless/In hand bridle.
Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force.
Format for video: Start by stating your horse’s racing name, age and what equine disciplines he/she has been retrained for (10 seconds max)
Individual show: In walk, circle (up to 20m) to the left and then again to the right. Stand your horse up from both sides and then trot away in a straight line from the judge (camera) and back again (one and a half minutes max)
Please e-mail your video to mosullivan@ror.org.uk putting your name, horse’s racing name and age in the subject line.
The first and second placed former racehorse in each qualifier will automatically qualify for the RoR Online Open In Hand Championship. Please note: Once a horse has qualified they will not be allowed to enter any subsequent qualifiers in this series.
Grand Final: A new video must be produced for the grand final. Details will be announced in due course.
The highest placed veteran (15+) in each qualifier will go forward for the RoR Online Open In-Hand Veteran Championships.
Prizes: An RoR branded prize to the winner of each qualifying round.
Championships – RoR prizes will be awarded to the first three in both championships.
Judging: An RoR approved judge will be appointed each week. The judge will provide written feedback to each competitor.
