Retraining of Racehorses parade at Tattersalls, Newmarket, shows horses thriving in second careers
On Thursday 5 February the spotlight will shine once again on a special group of former racehorses during the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) parade at 11am, at Tattersalls, Newmarket.
The parade showcases the versatility of the thoroughbred together with the range of activities open to racehorses when they finish their racing careers.
Taking place in the paddock, the parade will feature eight former racehorses who have all successfully transitioned into their second careers across various disciplines including leisure riding, showing, showjumping and, in the case of Capricorn Prince, as an equine instructor at The British Racing School.
David Catlow, Managing Director of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) said: “Parades like this are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the versatility and quality of former racehorses and the people who support them after their racing careers end.
“Seeing these horses thriving in such a wide range of disciplines really brings home just how adaptable they are, while helping racegoers better understand the importance of long-term care and responsible rehoming. We’re grateful to everyone involved for helping us share these positive stories and for shining a spotlight on life after racing.”
Full line up of parade participants:
