The opening session of the RoR Virtual Showcase is now online and available to view. Hosted by TV broadcaster, Nick Luck, the webinar featured a stellar line-up of panellists, led by Yogi Breisner, who was joined by Luke Harvey, Diana Cooper from Godolphin and Anna Lisa Balding, wife of trainer Andrew.

‘A Racehorse’s Life Before Retraining’ was recorded on 2nd December and gave viewers an in-depth insight into the life and training of a racehorse, along with expert advice on how best to help racehorses transfer to a new career after racing.

The feedback has been fantastic with viewers’ comments including: “Super session. So privileged to have such an expert panel” and “Thank you so much for this informative and helpful webinar. Subject to a successful vetting I will be the proud owner of an ex-racehorse in the very near future and found the advice given invaluable.”

Session 1: ‘A Racehorse's Life Before Retraining’

This year by going online the RoR Virtual Showcase aims to reach a wider and more diverse audience than would have been possible had it been held live. Viewers will be able to get involved with live Q & A sessions involving experts from both the racing and equestrian world, including Olympic athletes Richard Davison and Tina Cook.

Registration is free and open to all. The Showcase is for anyone with an interest in retraining former racehorses or considering rehoming one, with advice and feedback that caters for all levels, from grassroots to elite.

Each session will feature exclusive video footage and will be streamed through Zoom and Facebook so register now to attend the remaining three sessions by following the links below.

Session 2: Tuesday 8th December, 7pm; ‘Sourcing, Assessment and Early Retraining’
Hosted by Mark Hayward the session will focus on the different sourcing options available to potential buyers, signs to look for when assessing your new former racehorse with Vet Jenny Hall and Chiropractor Philippa James. To conclude the session RoR Accredited Retrainer Amanda Mills, joined by Jason Webb, will discuss early retraining methods. Register now for this session here.

Session 3: Wednesday 9th December, 7pm: ‘Versatility and Suitability’
During this session experts include British Dressage Trainer Cara Hayward, Polo Producer David Morley, Showing Judge David Ingle and Event Rider Dan Bizzarro. The panel will discuss the versatility of former racehorses as well as how to identify which discipline a racehorse is best suited to in their second careers. Register now for this session here.

Session 4: Wednesday 16th December, 7pm: 'Retrained, Results and Rewards'
Within this session we explore further retraining with Yogi Breisner, Olympic event rider Tina Cook, Olympic dressage rider Richard Davison and RoR Chief Executive, Di Arbuthnot, highlighting the various series and progression through the ranks to Elite level. Register now for this session here.
