Retraining of Racehorses to become Charity of the Year for Newbury Racecourse 5k, 10k and Half Marathon
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is delighted to be the Charity of the Year for RunThrough’s Newbury Racecourse Running Events on 9 August 2026, and again in 2027.
Taking place at the iconic Newbury Racecourse, the popular event features 5K, 10K and Half Marathon distances and attracts runners of all abilities. The partnership offers a unique opportunity to bring together the running and racing communities in support of former racehorses.
RoR ensures retired racehorses can enjoy safe and happy lives after racing. The charity supports owners and riders across the country with advice, training, events and opportunities to help horses move into new careers, while also providing a vital safety net for former racehorses needing additional support.
Funds raised through the event will help RoR to:
- Support vulnerable former racehorses, getting them to safety and into expert care.
- Provide urgent help for horses in immediate need.
- Educate current and future owners to ensure the best possible long-term care.
- Promote responsible ownership across the equestrian community.
Runners are encouraged to sign up as part of “Team RoR” and take on the challenge and raise funds to support the charity’s work. Participants will receive dedicated support, fundraising guidance, and the opportunity to be part of a passionate community making a real difference.
