Partner rehoming charities
RoR works with several partner charities across the country who provide the most secure and structured route for finding an ex-racehorse. While word of mouth or retrainers may be a more popular route, rehoming through a charity ensures horses are carefully matched to the new owner's experience, lifestyle, and goals.
How rehoming through a charity works
Horses are carefully assessed for temperament, ability, and needs, then matched with the most suitable rider. Multiple visits help you build connection and confidence, whether your goals are competition, hacking, or companionship.
If things don’t work out despite all efforts, most charities take the horse back, keeping welfare at the heart of every decision.
Support and agreements when rehoming through a charity
Each rehoming charity has its own terms and conditions to protect the horse and support the loaner, — for example, some may require a home visit. Most horses are rehomed on a loan basis, keeping ownership with the charity and ensuring a secure future. You’ll sign a loan agreement, and a donation may be requested to support ongoing welfare work. This structure provides stability for the horse and reassurance for you, with ongoing guidance from the charity.
