AM -Yard Tour with Jamie Corbett and the team

Susan Corbett Racing

Susan and Frank Corbett purchased their Otterburn yard in 1993, initially running it as a farm before gradually developing it into a successful Thoroughbred stud. Over the years, they stood several stallions, and their growing involvement in breeding and racing led them to obtain a training licence in 2012.

Before dedicating herself full-time to racing, Susan worked in newspaper marketing, bringing strong business and promotional expertise to the operation. Frank, a lifelong farmer in Otterburn, has provided the foundation and practical experience that underpins the yard’s success.

Their son Jamie gained experience working at several racing yards between the ages of 16 and 18 before returning home to ride as a jockey. He enjoyed a successful 10-year career in the saddle, retiring in 2020 to become an integral part of the family training team.

The yard celebrated a major milestone in 2024 with its first Class 1 winner, Pinot Rouge, who remains a flagship horse for the team and will be at the yard at the time of our visit.

To date, Susan Corbett Racing has trained 114 winners under rules — 90 over jumps and 24 on the Flat — reflecting the team’s consistent success and dedication to producing competitive racehorses.
