Training RoR South West - Flatwork with Lucinda Sims, Andover, SP11 0RA

Lucinda Sims is a lifelong RoR enthusiast, an International Showing Judge, an admired BHSAI, BE accredited trainer and an A Grade side saddle instructor, competing internationally for GB and in 2016 was the Reserve Champion at RoR Hickstead with Mumtaz Begum.  When Paul Nicholls gifted Zarkandar, well known to be ‘tricky’, Lucinda found respite by worrying more about getting him to settle, than her personal fight against cancer.  This was the catalyst for the focus of the yard to pivot, and concentrate fully on retraining racehorses, being both sensitive and intelligent.  The result is a never-ending stream of people of mixed ability in a yard buzzing with activity and learning.  Advocating the thoroughbred’s suitability to bond with people from school age upwards, to some with learning difficulties.  12 thoroughbreds fill all bar two of the 14 stables.  The less well accomplished racehorses are cared for with the same passion as likes of Zarkandar and Balthazar King.  Hosting regular one to one lessons, demonstrations and open days to show off the diversity of RoRs.   Proceeds are donated to RoR and other local charities.  Lucinda’s accumulated wisdom is regularly called upon to advocate the versatility of RoRs at race day parades and in print.
