RoR Horse of the Year Award 2025
This award was introduced in 2014 and is supported by The Jockey Club, whose mission is to act for the long term good of British racing in everything they do.
Eligibility
This award is open to all RoR registered former racehorses who have successfully transitioned from racing to a new career.
Qualities may include:
- A former racehorse that has displayed remarkable versatility and adaptability across an array of equestrian disciplines.
- A former racehorse that has participated successfully in different equestrian sports, at any level (beginner to elite).
- A former racehorse who has triumphed over adversity to form a strong bond with their new owner and has changed lives.

Prizes
If you or your horse is selected as one of the three lucky finalists, you and a guest will be invited to the prestigious RoR Awards at Cheltenham Festival Trials Day on 25 January 2025. The winner, chosen after a shortlisting process by our RoR judging team and a public vote, will be announced at the event and presented with a trophy. Each finalist will also receive a recognition award and have a special film produced showcasing their story.
