RoR patron and ambassadors
Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses when they leave racing. RoR is supported by one patron and two ambassadors. Their roles and the people in these positions are shown below.
Our patron
RoR’s patron brings profile and authority to the charity, supporting our mission through high-level advocacy, visibility and strategic engagement, and helping to champion the lifelong welfare of former racehorses.
Our ambassadors
RoR’s ambassadors are respected voices from the racing and equestrian industries who support the charity through active engagement and communication. They help raise awareness of RoR’s work, promote the importance of responsible aftercare, and represent the charity across media, digital platforms and events.
RoR patron
Zara Tindall MBE
Zara Tindall MBE became patron of Retraining of Racehorses in 2023. A renowned equestrian and advocate for equine welfare, Zara supports RoR’s mission to safeguard the wellbeing of all former racehorses.
Zara said of her appointment: “I am delighted to be joining Retraining of Racehorses as a patron. The charity’s commitment to the well-being and retraining of retired racehorses resonates with my lifelong love for these magnificent animals. I look forward to working with RoR to promote their cause and helping them to make a positive impact in the racing and equine communities.”
RoR ambassador
Kevin Blake
Kevin Blake is perhaps best known as an analyst on ITV Racing and Sky Sports Racing, but he is also a passionate participant on the coalface of the industry, having enjoyed success at stakes level as both a breeder and owner. He has been a prominent public advocate for horse racing in the mainstream media and raised over €10,000 for RoR when running a half marathon in August 2025.
Kevin said of his appointment in 2026: “It is an honour to be asked to become an ambassador for Retraining of Racehorses. What happens to horses after they finish racing is, and will remain, the most important question our industry must answer if it is to retain its social licence.
RoR leads from the front in ensuring that the industry’s actions allow that question to be answered with ever-greater confidence. I look forward to working with RoR to help shine a light on its work, and on the many people across racing who do the right thing by our wonderful thoroughbreds at every stage of their lives.”
RoR ambassador
Adele Mulrennan
Adele Mulrennan is a former flat jockey whose biggest success in the saddle came with victory in the Scottish Sprint Cup at York aboard Masta Plasta, a horse she later retrained into dressage. Adele moved into broadcasting as a raceday presenter for Go Racing in Yorkshire, before joining the ITV Racing team as a pundit and presenter. She continues to ride out in her spare time for trainer Karl Burke and is also a director of the Professional Jockeys Association.
Adele said of her appointment in 2026: “I am absolutely thrilled to be asked to become an ambassador for Retraining of Racehorses, a charity I hold very close to my heart.
I have a huge amount of respect not only for RoR, and its hard work and dedication to supporting the welfare of former racehorses, but also for the people who give their time, care and love by rehoming racehorses and giving them a life beyond the track.
I can’t wait to bring my own passion and commitment to help fulfil this important cause in any way I can.”
