RoR AMATEUR Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Classes

In 2014, RoR is pleased to be running two classes strictly for amateurs at the Aintree National Showing Show in Liverpool on 26th July.  The winners of both classes will go through to the Championship also held at Aintree on the same day or on 27th July.

The qualifying criteria are:

The RoR AMATEUR Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Class (NH Raced)

Riders must be 15 years or over.  Open to horses owned and ridden by an amateur and stabled at home or in a D.I.Y. yard and since January 2014 has not been shown or stabled at a professional yard (this does not exclude Amateur owner home produced riders having lessons with a instructor providing the horse stays at home).  No professional producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse.

Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle.   Horses should be plaited.

All entries must be registered with Weatherbys in their General Stud Book and must also be registered with the RoR.  The class is open to thoroughbreds that have raced in GB – the last race under NH Rules including point-to-points

There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15years or over.   The class will be run under the rules of RoR.  Horses will be ridden by the judge. About Polocrosse

Polocrosse is easiest to describe as lacrosse on horseback, it is fast paced and exciting to watch as a spectator sport. Teams try to gain possession of the ball and shoot it between their opponent's goal posts (which are just eight foot wide) in order to score.  Teams consist of six players but only three go onto the field at any one time and players have to swap every six minutes, allowing themselves and their horses chance to rest. There are three different areas on the field and players have to pass or bounce the ball betweeen the areas while moving at high speed.

RoR Team Chasing Prizes

In 2014 RoR is again awarding prizes for ex-racehorses competing in team chasing, in liaison with the National Team Chase Committee.  The prizes will be awarded at the National Team Chase Championships on 12th April 2014 at Langston Farm, Little Compton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire GL56 0SH.

A first prize of £500 and an RoR rug will be awarded to the owner of the ex-racehorse registered with RoR in the highest placed team in the Carter Jonas Open incorporating Global Recycling British National Championship.  If there is more than one ex-racehorse in the team, each ex-racehorse will receive a prize.

To qualify for the RoR prizes in team chasing, the thoroughbred must have raced in GB, be registered with RoR, and be running under its registered racing name.

Following the Championships in April, the series will once again be reviewed to see how it will continue in the future and how other competitions can be involved.
